Throughout their ten-year long career,
Project Zlust have established themselves as one of the best Macedonian
contemporary acoustic bands. From the very beginning, at the moment of
their formation in 1998, the group acknowledged their sound, which they
have been developing until today, that is a fusion of various styles and
genres, starting from jazz and improvisations, contemporary classical
music, Balkan folklore in the melodic and especially rhythmical sense,
gipsy tunes, tango, wedding traditions... Project Zlust are in fact
making a bold comment on the different types of music existing in this
region. And such an eclectic approach is not accidental. Its members
come from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds, reflecting the
great diversity in the Balkans. Their work demonstrates not only an
influence, but also a great knowledge of their roots, which is further
enhanced by their academic musical training. The Zlust’s music is filled
with humor, irony and cynicism, and according to them, it is inspired by
the fake aesthetic/cultural values present on a global level. The great
number of concerts that they have given during the past decade in
Macedonia, Balkans, Europe and America, as well as their collaborations
with some well-known world and domestic musicians, are all experiences
accredited to the music creations of the group. Project Zlust has also
provided soundtracks for a lot of theatrical plays and movies. Their
performance at OFF-Fest will be the first live promotion of the new
album “Incubator”, released by SJF Records.
