OFFest is celebrating the 100th anniversary of Amália Rodrigues’ birthday. A feature documentary about the extraordinary life and music of one of the world's great divas, "The Art of Amália", is by far the most comprehensive visual archive ever assembled about the legendary fado singer. Constructed with footage ranging from 1920 to 1999, the film includes live clips from Amália's worldwide concerts, television appearances, scenes from movies, backstage moments and a revealing interview with Amália herself. The "Queen of Fado" is considered as one of the voices of the century. She remains the most international of Portuguese artists and singers, and in Portugal, a national icon. Amália put fado in the world map as a musical genre popularising it worldwide and travelled internationally throughout her career. Her works continue to inspire other performers and singers today, many of whom sing her repertoire.
