A celebrated instrumental supergroup featuring three of Bogotá’s most visionary musicians: Eblis Alvarez (Meridian Brothers, Chúpame el dedo), Mario Galeano (Frente Cumbiero, Ondatropica) and Pedro Ojeda (Romperayo, Sidestepper). Fusing the experimental possibilities of South American rhythms and sonics (cumbia, champeta, tropicalia, salsa & more) with avant psych rock, dub minimalism and spiked jazz, Los Pirañas are retro-futurism at its finest. They combine these styles with a rock attitude, noisy improvisations and absurd musical humor. Think of Captain Beefheart in an exotic mood. Or young Carlos Santana on acid. Completely crazy, but very danceable and enjoyable at the same time. Their European tours catapulted them on some great festivals already, like Roskilde Festival (2016) where they rocked a crowd of 10.000 people, FMM in Sines (2016) and Best Kept Secret in The Netherlands (2018), just to name a few.
